Minnesota’s First Live Nation Amphitheater Opens This Summer in Shakopee

Minnesota’s First Live Nation Amphitheater Opens This Summer in Shakopee

Minnesota Gets Its First World-Class Outdoor Amphitheater

After years of major touring acts skipping the Twin Cities or settling for smaller venues, Minnesota now has a proper answer. Mystic Lake Amphitheater, a new 19,000-capacity outdoor venue developed near Canterbury Park in Shakopee, is set to open on June 20, 2026. The project was developed by Swervo, the Minneapolis-based company that previously transformed the Armory and Uptown Theater into standout concert destinations.

Live Nation, which operates more than 50 amphitheaters across the country, is running the venue and has already booked 37 concerts for the first season. Minnesota is now on the same circuit as major markets nationwide.

Opening Night: All-Local, All-Minnesota, and Very Affordable

Live Nation is kicking things off on June 20 with an all-local celebration before the venue's first official tour booking two days later. Motion City Soundtrack, Ber, and Rocket Club are confirmed on the bill, with one headliner still to be announced. Tommy Brennan, a St. Paul native and the newest cast member of Saturday Night Live, is serving as emcee for the evening.

Tickets for the opening night event are priced at $20. Live Nation All Access subscribers can purchase starting May 7 at 10 a.m., with general sale opening May 8 through Ticketmaster. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit the Salt Cure Restaurant Recovery Fund, a Minnesota Foundation initiative created to support Twin Cities restaurants impacted by ICE's Operation Metro Surge.

The Full Summer Concert Lineup

The inaugural season at Mystic Lake Amphitheater is stacked. MGK opens the official tour run on June 22, followed by Dave Matthews Band on June 23 and reunited Guess Who bandmates Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman on June 25. The summer schedule continues with Bob Dylan and Lucinda Williams on July 6, John Mellencamp on July 14, Lil Wayne on July 18, a two-night Chris Stapleton stand on July 29 and 30, Mumford and Sons on July 31, Kesha on August 3, Willie Nelson's Outlaw Music Fest on August 19, Wu-Tang Clan on September 1, and Slayer on September 4.

The venue is also spotlighting local food and drink at the concession stands. Expect Red Lake Walleye, Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery, and Cathy Mackenthun's Meats and Deli on the food side, with Grain Belt Brewery, Tattersall Apple Jack, August Schell Brewing Co., and Prairie Organic Vodka representing Minnesota-made beverages.

What This Means for Shakopee and the South Metro

Major entertainment infrastructure like this has a real impact on the communities around it. A 19,000-seat venue with 37 booked events in a single season means consistent summer traffic flowing through Shakopee and Scott County, supporting restaurants, hotels, and local businesses in the south metro. For residents in Shakopee, Prior Lake, Savage, or nearby areas, this is a meaningful quality-of-life addition. And for anyone looking at homes in that part of the Twin Cities, the arrival of a nationally booked outdoor venue is one more reason the south metro is worth serious consideration.
