Delta Is Bringing Its Most Exclusive Lounge to Minneapolis
Delta Air Lines is moving forward with plans to open a Delta One Lounge at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, one of the most premium airport lounge concepts the airline operates.
Delta has requested about 20,000 square feet in Terminal 1 above Concourse G at MSP, and the Metropolitan Airports Commission is funding a $1 million structural study to evaluate whether the space can support the project.
If built, MSP would become the fifth U.S. airport with a Delta One Lounge, joining JFK, Boston Logan, LAX, and Seattle-Tacoma.
These are not your standard airline lounges. Delta One Lounges feature:
- Upscale dining
- Spa treatments
- Exclusive viewing areas
- Premium service for Delta’s most high-end passengers and select partner airline travelers
How the Project Would Work
Under the current proposal:
- The Metropolitan Airports Commission would construct the structural shell of the lounge space
- Delta would handle the full interior build-out
The proposed location sits east of the Federal Inspection Services station roof, near Delta’s newest Concourse G Sky Club that opened in 2023.
No construction start date or opening timeline has been publicly announced.
The MAC subcommittee is expected to approve the $1 million feasibility study as a next step, making this early-stage but clearly moving in a real direction.
Why Delta CEO Called Out MSP by Name
This plan didn’t come out of nowhere.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian publicly put MSP on the Delta One Lounge shortlist during the Airport Foundation MSP’s State of the Airport event back in 2024.
His exact words:
"MSP needs one, and we're working and trying to figure that out."
That public commitment, combined with a formal site request and a funded study, signals this is more than a talking point.
What This Means for the Twin Cities
Beyond the travel perks, this kind of investment reflects Minneapolis-St. Paul’s standing as one of Delta’s most important hubs in the country.
Infrastructure investments at MSP tend to track closely with the broader health of the Twin Cities economy. Premium amenities like this attract higher-income travelers and increased business traffic to the metro.
For Minnesota homeowners and buyers watching the long-term economic picture, it’s another indicator that the Twin Cities remains a high-priority market for major national brands.
