Burnsville Center Welcomes Korean Fried Chicken and Matcha Desserts

A Fresh Flavor Revival for Burnsville Center

The Burnsville Center is reinventing itself — one delicious bite at a time. The former Applebee’s space has officially reopened with two exciting new tenants: Chingu Korean Fried Chicken and Kyo Matcha, adding a modern twist to the mall’s ongoing revival.

Chingu: Crispy, Flavorful, and Totally Addictive

Chingu — which translates to “friend” in Korean — is all about sharing good food and good vibes. The menu focuses on Korean street-style favorites: crispy fried chicken wings, bulgogi beef, bibimbap rice bowls, and loaded fries. It’s open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., making it the perfect new lunch or dinner stop for shoppers and locals alike.

Kyo Matcha: The Art of Matcha in Dessert Form

Next door, Kyo Matcha brings a taste of Japan’s favorite green tea to Burnsville. The international dessert café specializes in premium matcha drinks and delicate sweets. Their signature “towel cakes” — rolled sponge cakes stuffed with whipped cream — have become a viral sensation. And their matcha parfait, layered with red beans, rice mochi, and cornflakes, delivers a perfect mix of creamy, chewy, and crunchy textures.

With locations now open in Dinkytown and Maple Grove — and Richfield as their first Minnesota stop — Kyo Matcha is quickly becoming one of the Twin Cities’ favorite dessert chains.

Burnsville Center’s Comeback Continues

This isn’t the only exciting development at Burnsville Center. The mall’s northern extension is also undergoing a major transformation with the upcoming Enson Market Asian supermarket and Ate Ate Ate Food Hall, expected to open by the end of the year. Together, these additions are reshaping Burnsville Center into a vibrant cultural and dining destination for the south metro.

A Promising Future for Burnsville

As developers market over 15 acres of land surrounding the mall — including a prime 5-acre lot near the old Sears — there’s a sense that Burnsville’s next chapter is just beginning.

Whether you’re here for the spicy crunch of Korean fried chicken or the smooth sweetness of matcha desserts, Burnsville Center’s new food lineup is definitely worth the trip.
