Wrecktangle Pizza Returns to Minneapolis’ North Loop

Wrecktangle Pizza Returns to Minneapolis’ North Loop

A Beloved Twin Cities Pizza Spot Makes Its Comeback

After months of anticipation, Wrecktangle Pizza — the Twin Cities’ most famous Detroit-style pizzeria — is making its big return to the North Loop. The restaurant announced it will reopen inside Graze Food Hall by Travail, located at 520 N. 4th Street in Minneapolis.

This marks a full-circle moment for the Wrecktangle team, which first launched just a few blocks away at the now-closed North Loop Galley back in 2019. When that food hall shut down earlier this year, fans were left wondering when — and where — they’d get their next slice.

From Local Favorite to National Fame

What started as a local favorite quickly became a national sensation. Wrecktangle’s signature Detroit-style pizzas — rectangular with caramelized cheese edges and pillowy crusts — won over locals and critics alike. In 2023, Good Morning America crowned it “America’s Best Pizza” during its United States of Pizza challenge.

Since then, the brand has expanded with additional locations at Malcolm Yards and Lyn-Lake, but the North Loop has always been its spiritual home.

What’s Next for Wrecktangle’s Sister Concepts

At the new Graze location, Wrecktangle will take over spaces formerly operated by its sister concepts, Wrap and Wrad — known for wraps and tavern-style thin-crust pizzas, respectively. But the team behind the brand says those ideas aren’t gone for good. “We have plans for our wraps and thin crust pizzas,” they teased on social media.

The move reunites Wrecktangle with a familiar crowd of local foodies, as Graze Food Hall itself has been rejuvenated by the Travail Kitchen and Amusements team — known for their creative dining concepts and modern Minnesota cuisine.

The Comeback Pizza Minneapolis Needed

For fans of Twin Cities food, this is more than just another reopening — it’s a comeback story rooted in community. Wrecktangle helped define the North Loop’s food scene, and its return only strengthens the neighborhood’s reputation as one of Minneapolis’ best dining destinations.

So if you’ve missed that crispy, cheesy corner slice, now’s your chance to grab it again — hot out of the oven.

Thinking about moving closer to all this incredible Minneapolis food culture? I can help with that.
