The Ultimate Guide to Minnesota’s Haunted Houses and Trails (2025 Edition)

Halloween season in Minnesota isn’t just about costumes and candy — it’s about surviving the scare. Whether you’re in Duluth, the Twin Cities, or out in Cottage Grove, the North Star State offers some of the most creative and terrifying haunted attractions in the Midwest.

Iconic Haunts: Duluth to the Twin Cities

Start your spooky tour up north at the Duluth Haunted Ship, celebrating its 30th season aboard the William A. Irvin freighter. Known as one of the scariest haunts in the world, more than 100 visitors couldn’t finish last year. In Minneapolis, The Haunted Basement delivers immersive, psychological horror inside Bumbling Fools Meadery — a perfect mix of art and terror.

Twin Cities Fear Fest at Mall of America

This brand-new event replaces Onionhead with a full-scale scare experience featuring two themed haunts: Deadwater Hollow and Sanctum of Shadows. Add-ons include a zombie shooting gallery, escape rooms, and the Elvira Pop-Up Bar for guests 21+.

Scream Town and The Haunting Experience

Scream Town in Chaska spans five acres and ten attractions, including The Abandoned Hayride, Cannibal Cabin, and Zombie Apocalypse CDC. The new Halloween Market adds live entertainment, palm readings, and food trucks.
Meanwhile, The Haunting Experience in Cottage Grove — one of Minnesota’s oldest haunts — adds “Massacre,” a new haunted cornfield joining its classic haunted house and hayride combo.

Beyond the Metro: Scares Across the State

The Dead End Hayride in Wyoming remains a must-do, featuring 200 actors, fire effects, and Hollywood-level production. For affordable thrills, Oak Blood Forest offers $20 entry as part of Scream Town, while The Krypt in Golden Valley brings 20,000 square feet of eerie atmosphere for just $10.

Other statewide stops include Anoka Haunted House, Fright at the Farm in Zumbrota, Henning Haunted House, Molitor’s Haunted Acres in Sauk Rapids, Nowhere Haunted House in Inver Grove Heights, and Rivertown Terror Tour in Stillwater.

Minnesota: The Halloween Capital of the North

Whether you’re looking for jump scares, immersive stories, or just a good old-fashioned haunted hayride, Minnesota delivers in every corner of the state. So grab your bravest friend — and maybe a spare pair of pants — and test your courage.
