Minnesota's retail and outdoor recreation scene just got a major upgrade. SCHEELS, the iconic sporting goods store, has announced plans to open a new 250,000-square-foot location in Blaine—its sixth location in Minnesota and second in the Twin Cities metro area. Set to open in spring 2028, this flagship SCHEELS will be more than just a place to buy sporting equipment. It will be a full family-friendly destination.
The Blaine SCHEELS will include:
-
80 specialty departments ranging from hunting and fishing to home decor
-
A Ferris wheel inside the store
-
A 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium with over 600 fish
-
A candy shop and interactive experiences for all ages
SCHEELS started as a hardware store in Sabin, Minnesota back in 1902, and although it's now based in Fargo, the brand is coming full circle by expanding its presence right here in Minnesota. The Blaine store is expected to employ 500 people and contribute to the growth of the north metro economy.
This location will join others in St. Cloud, Mankato, Rochester, Moorhead, and Eden Prairie, reinforcing SCHEELS’ status as a powerhouse in both sporting goods and experiential retail.
