Pohlads Retain Ownership of Minnesota Twins, Bring in New Investors

After months of speculation, the Minnesota Twins’ ownership future is settled — the Pohlad family will remain in control.

The family, which has owned the team for 40 years, had been exploring a sale since October 2024. The only publicly known potential buyer was Justin Ishbia, part-owner of the Phoenix Suns, but he withdrew earlier this year.

Instead of a full sale, the Pohlads announced they will bring in two limited partnership groups to help strengthen the club. While the investors’ identities haven’t been disclosed, the team says each brings valuable experience and shares the Pohlads’ vision. Major League Baseball approval is still pending.

This decision comes at a challenging time for the Twins. Recent trades have drawn sharp criticism from fans, including the departures of Carlos Correa, Jhoan Duran, and Harrison Bader. The roster now leans heavily on younger, less experienced players.

As of mid-August 2025, the Twins are fourth in the AL Central with a 56–63 record, 7.5 games out of a wild card playoff spot. Fans are left wondering if the addition of new investors will lead to real changes on the field, or if it’s simply a shift in the ownership structure without immediate impact.

A Long-Term Commitment

Executive Chair Joe Pohlad emphasized that the move is about positioning the Twins for success in a “rapidly evolving sports landscape.” He stressed the importance of strong partnerships and a long-term vision.

The Pohlads’ decision signals a commitment to Minnesota and the team’s future — but performance on the field will ultimately determine whether fans embrace the new chapter.

What’s Next for Twins Fans?

More details on the limited partners are expected once the league approves the transactions. Until then, the focus will remain on whether the current roster can turn the season around.

For Minnesota baseball fans, this ownership news offers both continuity and a hint of change. Time will tell which side of that balance matters most.
