Moe’s Southwest Grill Expands into the South Metro

Moe’s Southwest Grill Expands into the South Metro

From the Airport to Your Neighborhood, Moe's Is Coming to the South Metro

Right now, the only place to grab a Moe's Southwest Grill in Minnesota is inside MSP airport.

That's about to change in a meaningful way for several south metro communities.

Franchisee Satnam Dhillon is in the process of building out a four-city footprint across the Dakota and Washington County corridor, and Apple Valley is the latest city to enter the picture.

What's Planned for Apple Valley

Dhillon is seeking a conditional use permit and variance from the city to open a Moe's at the Pennock Retail Center, located at 7668 150th St. W. on the corner of Pennock Lane and 150th Street West.

The Apple Valley City Council is expected to review the request later this month.

If approved, the restaurant would:

  • Occupy roughly 2,000 square feet in a three-tenant building
  • Seat 36 people
  • Operate from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The location would offer dine-in and takeout but no drive-thru or pickup window.

It would share the building with Milan Laser Hair Removal and a combined Dunkin' and Baskin Robbins.

Woodbury Is Also on the Way, With More to Follow

Dhillon's Woodbury location is already listed as coming soon on Moe's website, though no opening date has been announced.

That location would be the first standalone Moe's in Minnesota outside of the airport.

His franchise agreement with Atlanta-based GoTo Foods also includes locations in:

  • Cottage Grove
  • Inver Grove Heights

Both are still in earlier stages of development.

What This Means for South Metro Neighborhoods

National franchise brands don't pick markets randomly.

Franchisors analyze rooftop counts, household income, and traffic volume before signing multi-unit agreements.

The fact that one franchisee is committing to four south metro locations reflects genuine confidence in where this part of the Twin Cities is heading.

For homeowners and buyers in Apple Valley, Woodbury, Cottage Grove, and Inver Grove Heights, that kind of commercial investment tends to:

  • Support neighborhood value over time
  • Signal continued demand in these communities
