Vital Print Press Buys Five Hennepin Avenue Properties in Minneapolis
A major commercial real estate move just happened along Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis.
Vital Print Press, a longtime local printing company, purchased five adjoining properties in Uptown for $1.37 million. The addresses include 2400 through 2416 Hennepin Ave., directly across the street from the company’s existing storefront.
The total footprint is approximately 17,000 square feet.
City of Minneapolis Ownership Fund Helped Close the Deal
The purchase was supported by up to $540,000 from the City of Minneapolis through its Ownership and Opportunity Fund. That program is designed to help small and minority owned businesses acquire property and build long term stability.
For Hennepin Avenue, this is significant. Instead of continued vacancy or outside investors holding property long term, this is an example of an operating business planting deeper roots in the neighborhood.
What This Means for Uptown Minneapolis
Uptown has experienced storefront vacancies and ownership transitions over the past several years. The properties were previously owned by the Haverstock family for roughly 80 years, marking a major generational change.
The building already houses Spyhouse Coffee, and Vital Print Press plans to lease additional space to new or existing small businesses.
More small business density can mean:
• Increased daily foot traffic
• More consistent daytime activity
• Greater stability for surrounding retail
• Stronger neighborhood identity
For homeowners in surrounding areas like Lowry Hill East and East Isles, commercial stability on Hennepin Avenue often plays a role in long term property values and neighborhood perception.
Expansion Plans for Vital Print Press
Founded in 2001, Vital Print Press specializes in custom packaging, signage, banners and branded materials. The company plans to expand its operational capacity, including adding more car wrapping services.
Operational growth paired with leasing space to other small businesses creates a layered impact. It is not just one company expanding. It is potentially multiple small businesses gaining a foothold in Uptown.
As Minneapolis continues to reshape its commercial corridors, local ownership like this may play a key role in the next chapter of Hennepin Avenue.
