Indoor Soccer Facility Coming to Northeast Minneapolis This Summer
Northeast Minneapolis is getting a major addition for youth sports this summer. Midwest Indoor Soccer plans to open a 28,000 square foot facility at 575 Ninth Street SE inside the 9th Street Center.
For families across Minneapolis, this could change where kids practice and play during the long winter months.
What’s Planned at 9th Street Center
The new facility will feature two indoor soccer fields along with leagues, lessons, open play, concessions, and retail. The focus is on youth programming, addressing a clear gap in Minneapolis compared to suburbs like Blaine, Burnsville, and Stillwater.
Founder Ashraf Ali said one of the biggest challenges was finding the right building. Indoor soccer requires wide, column free space and high ceilings. Many Minneapolis warehouses simply do not fit those needs.
The 9th Street Center proved to be the right solution.
A Growing Activity Hub in Northeast Minneapolis
The 9th Street Center spans nine historic buildings constructed between 1910 and the 1950s. Owned by Hillcrest Development, the property is about 95 percent occupied.
Current tenants include Planet Fitness and Minneapolis Cider Co, which also operates pickleball courts and an event space. The addition of Midwest Indoor Soccer strengthens the complex as a destination for fitness, recreation, and experiential businesses.
For Northeast Minneapolis, this adds consistent foot traffic and family oriented activity year round.
Why This Matters for Minneapolis Families
Families in Minneapolis have long driven to the outer suburbs for indoor field time. That means more time on the road and less convenience.
Bringing 28,000 square feet of indoor soccer into the city reduces that gap. It also signals strong demand for youth sports and recreation in core Minneapolis neighborhoods.
When you see this type of experiential development succeed, it often reflects neighborhood stability and long term confidence in the area.
If you live in Northeast Minneapolis, this could become a regular part of your weekly routine.
