What Is Grand Old Day?
Grand Old Day is the largest free street festival in the Midwest, and it's returning to Grand Avenue in St. Paul on Sunday, June 7, 2026. The festival runs from 8 AM to 6 PM and stretches along one of the most well-known streets in the Twin Cities.
Whether you've gone every year or you're hearing about it for the first time, this is one of those classic Minnesota summer traditions that brings the entire community together.
The event is produced by the Grand Avenue Business Association and has grown into a full day of live entertainment, local vendors, food, family activities, and more, all with free admission.
What's Happening at Grand Old Day 2026
The day kicks off with a 5K fun run and kids' half mile starting at Grand Avenue and Snelling Avenue.
At 9:30 AM, the Grand Old Day Parade rolls from Dale Street to Snelling Avenue.
From there, six live music stages open at 11 AM, all powered in partnership with The Current.
A car show sets up at Grand and Hamline, and the fan-favorite wiener dog races happen at noon and 1 PM near Snelling Avenue.
New for 2026: Future Innovators Zone
New for 2026 is a Kids Market in the Future Innovators Zone, where kids ages 5 to 17 can set up their own booths and sell handmade goods, products, games, or services.
There's also a Family Fun Zone, Sports Zone, and Glow Zone spread throughout the festival grounds, giving visitors activities for all ages throughout the day.
How Much Does It Cost?
Entry to the entire festival, including all six music stages, is completely free.
If you're 21 or older and want to enjoy the beverage gardens, wristbands are available for purchase in advance at a discount.
Pit passes are also available for front-row access at four of the music stages.
Getting There and Parking
Free parking is available at the Anderson Parking Facility at Grand and Cretin, with complimentary shuttle service along Summit Avenue running every 30 to 45 minutes.
Metro Transit is offering a free ride pass, available by filling out a short survey on the festival website.
MOOV Rideshare is also available, with $10 rides to the festival.
Planning ahead is recommended, as Grand Old Day consistently draws large crowds from across the Twin Cities metro area.
Why Grand Old Day Matters for the Community
Events like Grand Old Day don't just bring people together for a fun afternoon. They support hundreds of local businesses, artists, and organizations along Grand Avenue and across St. Paul.
For homeowners and residents in the surrounding neighborhoods, this kind of vibrant community activity is part of what makes the area so desirable. Walkable access to local culture, dining, shopping, and neighborhood events continues to be a top priority for buyers in the Twin Cities market.
Community events also help showcase the unique character that differentiates neighborhoods and contributes to long-term demand for housing in highly walkable areas.
