Esther’s Table Debuts at Renovated Sheraton, Honoring a Minnesota Legacy
A $40 Million Rebirth for a Downtown Landmark
Downtown Minneapolis is celebrating a fresh chapter in hospitality with the opening of Esther’s Table, the signature restaurant inside the newly renovated Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown Convention Center Hotel. Formerly the Millennium Hotel, the property underwent a $40 million renovation and rebranding before reopening in spring 2025 under the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.
Honoring the Capp Family’s Historic Roots
Esther’s Table isn’t just another hotel restaurant — it’s a tribute to a Minnesota family that helped shape the city’s hospitality scene. The name honors Esther Capp, matriarch of the Capp family, who originally opened the Capp Towers Motor Hotel on this very site back in 1963. The new restaurant carries forward that spirit of warmth, family, and community, while embracing a contemporary design and elevated menu.
A Menu Rooted in Minnesota Flavor
Executive chef Keven Kvalsten brings deep local experience to Esther’s Table, having led kitchens at some of the Twin Cities’ most respected hotels — including the Hilton Minneapolis and the Royal Sonesta (formerly Radisson Blu). The restaurant’s offerings highlight Minnesota-inspired comfort food with modern twists, featuring dishes like walleye po’boy sandwiches, red wine-braised bison meatballs, and butternut squash gnocchi. Guests can enjoy breakfast and dinner service, along with a bar that showcases craft cocktails and a robust wine list.
Grand Opening Celebration
While Esther’s Table quietly opened in May, the official grand opening party is scheduled for November 4th. The event will be partially open to the public with limited RSVPs available, offering guests a first look at the restaurant’s complete menu and atmosphere.
A Welcome Addition to Downtown Minneapolis
For locals and visitors alike, Esther’s Table represents the blending of old and new — a nod to history within a reimagined hotel that’s once again becoming a downtown favorite. Whether you’re staying at the Sheraton or just exploring the city, this spot is worth adding to your dining list.
