Crooked Water Golf Club Emerges After $12 Million Transformation

Crooked Water Golf Club Emerges After $12 Million Transformation

Crooked Water Golf Club: $12M Transformation in Minnetrista

A Major Rebrand in the Twin Cities Golf Scene

Burl Oaks Golf Club in Minnetrista has officially rebranded as Crooked Water Golf Club, marking a significant shift in the Twin Cities private golf landscape. This change reflects a broader $12 million investment aimed at elevating the club into a more premium tier of private golf experiences near Lake Minnetonka.

The new name, “Crooked Water,” comes from the Dakota translation of Minnetrista, tying the club’s identity back to the region’s natural landscape and cultural history.

What’s Changing at Crooked Water Golf Club

This isn’t just a cosmetic update. The club is undergoing a full-scale transformation that includes:

• A complete redesign of the 18-hole course
• A newly added short course, a growing trend in modern golf
• Expanded fairways, tee boxes, and greens
• Use of 20 additional acres of previously unused land
• Upgrades to practice areas and club facilities

The redesign is being led by golf architect Jay Blasi, known for high-end course renovations across the country.

Construction is expected to wrap with a full reopening planned for 2027.

Why the 40% Price Increase Matters

Alongside the renovation, the club raised its initiation fee from $12,500 to $17,500.

This 40% increase reflects a larger trend happening across Minnesota and the Twin Cities. Private golf clubs are investing heavily in upgrades and repositioning themselves to attract members seeking a higher-end, more exclusive experience.

We’ve seen similar moves in Edina, Golden Valley, and other west metro communities.

What This Means for Twin Cities Real Estate

Luxury amenities like private golf clubs play a role in how buyers evaluate certain areas, especially around Lake Minnetonka, Minnetrista, and the west metro.

As clubs upgrade and reposition, they can influence demand among move-up and luxury buyers who prioritize lifestyle and access.

If this trend continues, expect more investment in private clubs and recreational amenities across the Twin Cities.

If you’re thinking about buying or selling near Minnetonka, Woodbury, or anywhere in the Twin Cities, understanding these lifestyle shifts can give you an edge.
