A huge new sports and fitness destination could soon rise along I-94 in Woodbury. Developer ARCO/Murray, known for building the city’s upcoming indoor pickleball center, has submitted plans for a 238,000-square-foot multipurpose facility called Champions Hall.
From Vacant Warehouse to Sports Destination
The proposed complex would repurpose a portion of a 475,000-square-foot building at 11435 Hudson Road, previously approved for light industrial use. Owned by an entity tied to Ares Management of Los Angeles, the property has sat vacant since 2022.
If approved, Champions Hall would bring indoor turf fields for soccer and lacrosse, volleyball courts, and even a café and lounge for families and athletes.
Expansion from Eden Prairie
The project would expand on the success of Champions Hall Eden Prairie, a 165,000-square-foot facility owned by Troy and Lisa Pappas. The Woodbury location would nearly double that size, offering more space for tournaments, training, and community events.
Part of a Growing Sports Corridor
ARCO/Murray’s involvement is significant — the same developer is behind the new 45,000-square-foot indoor pickleball facility just northeast of this proposed site. Together, these projects signal a boom in Woodbury’s athletic infrastructure, catering to families seeking year-round recreation without leaving the east metro.
City staff have already noted that many residents currently drive to surrounding cities for similar facilities. Bringing Champions Hall to Woodbury could help meet that demand locally.
What’s Next
The proposal is currently under review by the Woodbury Planning Commission. If approved, construction could transform the I-94 corridor into one of the most active recreation hubs in the Twin Cities.
Whether you love the idea or worry about the growth, one thing’s clear — Woodbury is quickly becoming a destination for both families and fitness.
