Maple Grove, Minnesota is getting a new Brazilian steakhouse. Bullvino’s Churrascaria plans to open its fourth location in the former Golden Corral at The Grove shopping center, 13603 Grove Dr., by early 2027. For Twin Cities diners who already know the St. Paul or Bloomington locations, the menu will be the same.
What’s Coming to the Old Golden Corral Space
Golden Corral closed its Maple Grove restaurant earlier this year after a decade at The Grove. Bullvino’s will take over the space with a restaurant of about 10,000 square feet and more than 300 seats.
The layout includes three private dining rooms, which gives groups planning birthdays, team dinners, or family celebrations one more option without leaving the northwest suburbs. Bullvino’s worked with Dan McGuire, associate broker at HSC Business Brokers, to secure the space.
A Hometown Story for Maple Grove
This one is personal for the owners. Founder Marcio de Morais has lived in Maple Grove, and co-owners Nathan Uherka and Blake Hagert are from the city.
Bullvino’s opened its first location in St. Paul in 2019, now operates in Bloomington as well, and expanded out of state with a Bolingbrook, Illinois, location in July. The company is planning more growth in Illinois and possibly North Dakota in the coming year. Bringing location number four back to the owners’ hometown is a full circle moment for a Minnesota-grown business.
When a closed national chain is replaced by a homegrown Twin Cities brand, the decisions behind that building sit a little closer to home. That’s a story worth noticing.
Why The Grove Area Is Worth Watching
Bullvino’s isn’t the only move around The Grove:
- KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot opened there in March 2025
- Directly south, Grove Square Plaza, home to tenants like El Rodeó Mexican Restaurant and Plato’s Closet, sold to Trautz Properties for $7.8 million earlier this month
- A few miles north, Hope Breakfast Bar announced plans for its 11th location in the former Paulie’s space at 15641 Grove Circle N.
Put together, that’s a lot of reinvestment in a short stretch of Maple Grove. Vacant restaurant spaces landing new tenants, and buyers paying millions for a neighboring plaza, suggest that people with real money on the line still see a future in this part of the metro.
What This Means for Maple Grove Neighbors
For people who live near The Grove, the biggest win is simple. A vacant building gets new life, and an occupied storefront keeps a shopping center feeling active instead of half empty.
For the wider Twin Cities, it’s another example of a local restaurant brand growing from one St. Paul location into four. Want more stories like this from around Minnesota? [INTERNAL LINK: Twin Cities local news blog category]
