Maple Grove’s popular restaurant corridor just got an exciting new addition. Northern Taphouse, a fast-growing Twin Cities-based restaurant chain, is moving into the former Red Lobster building at 12515 Elm Creek Blvd.
The Maple Grove City Council recently approved architectural plans for the new location, including a redesigned west-side entrance and a future patio where the current north-facing entry stands. The restaurant also submitted permits for interior renovations and expects to return later this summer to secure a liquor license and finalize patio plans.
Northern Taphouse is known for its scratch-made menu, craft burgers, wings, and rotating taps featuring local Minnesota breweries. This will mark the company’s fifth Northern Taphouse location, joining existing spots in Plymouth, Woodbury, Lakeville, and Eau Claire.
“We’ve been looking at Maple Grove for years,” said applicant Matthew Letnes. “We’re really excited to be here—it’s a perfect match.”
Mayor Mark Steffenson echoed the enthusiasm, pointing out that the restaurant will be a great addition to the city’s so-called "restaurant row" along Elm Creek Boulevard—a hotspot for dining out in the northwest metro.
Stay tuned for updates on the official opening date, patio approval, and more. For residents of Maple Grove and nearby areas, this is one new restaurant opening worth watching.
