Minnesota's Newest Luxury Golf Club, Tepetonka, Opens Near the Twin Cities

Minnesota's Newest Luxury Golf Club, Tepetonka, Opens Near the Twin Cities

A New Chapter for Minnesota Golf

Minnesota just added one of the most exclusive golf destinations in the state. The Tepetonka Club, located about 90 miles west of the Twin Cities, opens all 18 holes of its course on August 20 after four years of development. Members will play the finished course this season, while the club's lodging and clubhouse remain under construction with a 2027 debut planned.

Club chairman Mark Haugejorde described the August opening as a soft launch and said the amenities still in progress were always meant for a later phase. In other words, this is the first big milestone in a much larger build.

What $200,000 Buys You

The number turning heads is the buy-in. The equity fee to join Tepetonka sits at two hundred thousand dollars, roughly double the cost to join Interlachen Country Club, which has long held the title of the most expensive private club in the Twin Cities. For context, that kind of price tag signals a club aiming squarely at the top of the market, and the club is now inviting prospective members from outside Minnesota to visit and experience the completed course.

To bridge the gap until on-site lodging is finished, the club purchased a 140-acre ranch two miles away last fall for 2.5 million dollars. The property includes a 5,200 square foot home with a pool, a hobby barn, a rustic cabin, a hunting shed, and miles of trails.

Why Twin Cities Locals Should Care

Even though Tepetonka sits well beyond the east metro, it's a useful signal for anyone watching Minnesota's luxury market. When a group invests years and this much capital into a destination club plus a multimillion-dollar ranch, it reflects real confidence in Minnesota as a place people want to spend and stay. Weekend-trip destinations like this also give Twin Cities buyers one more reason to keep their home base close to the metro while chasing recreation an easy drive away.

There's more coming, too. A second nine-hole short course, shaped with help from broadcaster Jim Nantz, is expected in 2027, and dining will be handled by Jester Concepts, the Minneapolis group behind Parlour and P.S. Steak. Add in cabin suites and spa services, and Tepetonka is positioning itself as a full destination rather than just a course.
