For more than 45 years, Becker Furniture has been a familiar name in Minnesota homes. From Blaine to Woodbury, countless families have shopped its showrooms to furnish their living rooms, bedrooms, and dining spaces. But as of this fall, the Becker Furniture name is no more.
A Family Business With Deep Minnesota Roots
The Huseby family built Becker Furniture into one of the state’s most recognized furniture retailers, with multiple metro locations and a large distribution center in Becker. Over the years, the company became a go-to destination for Minnesotans looking for trusted service and quality furnishings.
The Furniture Mart Acquisition
In February, South Dakota-based Furniture Mart announced it was acquiring Becker Furniture along with one Furniture Superstore location. Last week, the transition was completed. All Becker stores—including Becker, Blaine, Burnsville, Maple Grove, Minnetonka, and Woodbury—have been rebranded under the Furniture Mart name. The Becker distribution center is now part of the Furniture Mart USA network as well.
What Shoppers Can Expect
Furniture Mart says customers should expect greater inventory, improved selection, and access to top-quality brands. While the signage may have changed, leaders assure that the same customer-first service Becker Furniture was known for remains at the heart of the company. Joel Huseby, of the founding family, has also joined the Furniture Mart leadership team to carry forward that legacy.
Growing Across the Midwest
Furniture Mart, founded by St. Paul native Bill Hinks in 1977, has grown steadily from its first store in Sioux Falls to nearly 60 locations across the Upper Midwest. In Minnesota alone, it now operates stores in 22 cities, making it one of the largest furniture retailers in the region.
