A Major New Restaurant Comes to Seven Points

A new restaurant concept is preparing to open in the heart of Uptown Minneapolis, and it could signal a shift for the area.

Arizona Taco Co. is set to take over a 7,000 square foot space inside Seven Points, one of Uptown’s most recognizable retail and entertainment centers. The restaurant will include a rooftop patio and private bar, adding a larger-scale dining and social experience to the neighborhood.

This isn’t a small test concept. It’s a significant investment in a location that has seen its share of challenges over the past few years.

A Different Food Experience for the Twin Cities

The restaurant is led by restaurateur Marcos Ayala, who already operates a location in New Hope. This new Uptown location will feature Sonoran-style cuisine, which is less common in Minnesota.

Expect items like carne asada cooked over a charbroiler, fresh tortillas made in-house, and recipes rooted in family traditions. While some familiar menu items will still be available, the focus is on introducing a different regional flavor to the Twin Cities food scene.

More Than Just a Restaurant

One of the more interesting parts of this concept is the focus on community events.

Plans include salsa dancing nights, cooking classes, and social gatherings designed to bring people together. That’s a direct response to one of Uptown’s biggest current challenges: a lack of consistent foot traffic.

At the same time, nearby development is moving forward. A planned 228-unit apartment project near Seven Points could bring more residents into the immediate area, which is often a key factor in revitalizing urban neighborhoods.
